At the recommendation of my good friend, Greg Clark at C3 Associates, I have decided to begin blogging about various topics concerning online safety management. Specifically, I will research and comment on online systems for administering the various elements of a safety program. This industry is still dominated by looseleaf binders and Excel spreadsheets, which are a little outdated, given the enormous scope of safety management. There seem to be many questions on the internet, but few answers.
Admittedly, there are a few products on the market that already serve the safety management function, but most are either prohibitively expensive or lacking polish. Few, if any, offer an integrated safety management solution. Although SAFETYSYNC is relatively new in this industry, we hope to quickly become the most cost-effective and technologically advanced solution in the marketplace. I know no better way than to initiate a discussion and remain open to comments.
I will initially focus on methods of providing training, policies, and safe work procedures to a distributed workforce. This is an area I know something about, having worked extensively on data gathering and distribution to/from offices, shops and field locations throughout Western Canada for oil and gas service companies including Foremost Industries, Plains Energy Services, Precision Drilling, and Savanna Energy Services.
Please check back often for new posts. I will do my best to make them timely and topical!
