Security Notice on Login

Posted 05-Aug-2009 by brian.nodwell  and filed under:
For those of you who are already using the system, you may have noticed a new security notice pop up when logging onto the system.  All users will now be presented with this notice.  In order to access the Safety Management System and use its features, a user must click on "I am John Doe, Continue with login".

This feature was added at the request of one of our larger clients who was concerned that their employees might not understand the importance of the system, and might give out their password to someone else (such as a spouse or coworker) to complete the requirements on their behalf.

This notice is meant to notify both the worker and the 3rd party that impersonation and other fraudulent use puts the health and safety of all workers at risk (not just the worker in question).

With this security notice, both parties will be aware of the possible consequences, and will hopefully choose to do the right thing.

As always, we will continue to monitor for inappropriate activity. Inappropriate use may still occasionally happen, but at least all parties will be aware that it is inappropriate, and that disciplinary action could be forthcoming.
